Carl Valeri will miss Australia's next 2014 World Cup qualifier because of injury.
The 28-year old Sassuolo midfielder is out of the Socceroos' March 26 meeting with Oman after having surgery to fix a displacement in his lower left leg.
Valeri, who has made 50 national team appearances since debuting in 2007, will also be sidelined for the remainder of the club season as Sassuolo look to maintain their seven-point lead on the rest of the Serie B table.
