Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco says he's attempting to broker peace talks between star striker Domenico Berardi and Italy officials.
Berardi has been frozen out of the Azzurrini after rejecting a call-up to the U19 squad.
"When I was a player, it was my dream to be called up for Italy," Di Francesco said. "An ambition to always improve is fundamental and the national shirt can motivate you.
"Domenico has already understood that he has made a mistake. He has a particular character, but nobody knows that more than me.
"I hope to convince him to take a step backwards."
