Chelsea are pulling back from plans to bring Gonzalo Higuain to London.
Higuain is currently on loan with AC Milan, with an arrangement in place with parent club Juventus which states he can sign permanently in the summer.
Milan parted with £16million (€18m) to bring Higuain to the San Siro on loan, while committing to a further £32m (€34m) should they take on the player full time.
Goal reports this arrangement has deterred Chelsea from attempting to bring the player to the Premier League, with the need to negotiate with both clubs a stumbling block.
The decision will be frustrating for Blues manager Maurizio Sarri, who was believed to be hoping for a reunion with Higuain. He flourished under his command previously with Napoli.
