Sarpsborg coach Deane thrilled for Solskjaer over Cardiff appointment

Sarpsborg coach Brian Deane is delighted for Ole Gunnar Solskajer over his move to Cardiff City.

Sheffield United legend Deane faced the former Molde coach last season in Norway.

"He certainly didn't have things his own way when he first took over at Molde but he learnt from that," said Deane of the Manchester United legend.

"He was quoted as saying that you always learn more from your defeats than your victories and I think that just goes to show the sort of attitude he has.

"Molde are well backed and he had certainly built a side capable of competing, both in Norway and in Europe. He was working with good, good players here and Molde are a side who also tried to play decent football.

"But although he has already achieved a lot in Norway as a manager it's really his reputation as a player in the Premier League that will stand him in good stead.

"You need that experience of English football to understand the emotion of the players and the passion of the fans.

"It's a good opportunity for Ole Gunnar. It's actually hard to emphasise just how highly regarded he is in Norway.

"It will be tough at Cardiff. It's not an easy job but he loves a challenge."
