Adam Sarota admits he is saddened at leaving the Brisbane Roar but excited about his opportunity with Dutch club FC Utrecht.
The 21-year old recently signed a three-year deal with the Eredivisie outfit and although he was keen to remain in Brisbane, knows that is was a chance he could not pass up.
"I wanted to stay at the Roar, but at the end of the day it's a better move for me football wise," Sarota said.
"For me to further my football career I have to move overseas and see what happens."
Sarota admitted that things had happened very quickly for him last season.
"When I stop and think about it, it's really been a crazy year," he added.
"At the start of the year I was only coming off the bench every now and again, but when (Roar coach) Ange Postecoglou came in, I played the last nine or ten games of the season.
"And now I've got this deal in Holland so it's been a very big year for me."
