Sao Paulo midfielder Rodrigo Caio is joining Atletico Madrid.

AS says his move is being held up as the player gains his Italian passport.

At the moment Atleti have Jose Giménez, Jackson Martinez and Angel Correa filling their non-EU spots. Correa may leave on loan this season, however the two other players are seen as fundamental to Atleti's new project.

Caio is in the process of obtaining his Italian passport, and at the moment he receives it he'll become an Atleti player. Atleti bosses are keen to take the player on a year's loan, with a purchase option.
