Premier League clubs are on alert over the availability of Sao Paulo defender Joao Miranda.
The Daily Mail says Miranda has put Manchester United and Tottenham on alert by signalling he is ready to quit Sao Paulo for a shot at the Barclays Premier League.
The 26-year-old rejected all offers when the English duo were among those tracking him last year, but he is now ready to discuss terms on a Bosman free transfer.
Miranda, named in the Brazilian League's team of the year for the fourth straight season this week, is out of contract in the middle of next year and admits it may now be time to return to Europe after a low-key stint in France with Sochaux five years ago.
Despite links to Brazilian champions Fluminense and the country's top payers Corinthians, Miranda said: "If I don't stay with Sao Paulo, I want to go to Europe.
"It is very hard for me to stay in Brazil with one of Sao Paulo's rivals. Let's wait for negotiations and see if I sign a new contract."
