Brazilian club Santos are set to pursue Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva when the January transfer window opens.
The 23-year old former Gremio man has found life difficult at Anfield prompting Santos to test the resolve of the Reds with an offer in the New Year.
Lucas has returned to form in recent weeks which may force manager Roy Hodgson to keep him around until the end of the season but it will not stop Santos pushing for the Brazil international, especially after they just signed former Manchester City and Galatasaray midfielder Elano.
