The youngster says he feels ready to replace Douglas Maicon at Inter.
“Many people tell me I am the heir to Maicon, as I am similar in terms of strength and pace,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We don’t know each other really, as we are from different generations. We never played together at Cruzeiro, but I did train alongside him in a few games between ranks when I was in the youth team.
“I have not signed anything yet and don’t want problems with Santos, so I am leaving it all in the hands of my agent.”
This is not the first time that Jonathan has been linked with a Serie A switch.
“I read that last year Milan sent scouts to see me play, but they couldn’t buy me because of the limit on non-EU players.”
