Last season's CONCACAF Champions League runners-up Santos Laguna have ended Toronto FC's campaign this season.
The Mexican outfit edged the Canadians 1-0 courtesy of Herculez Gomez's 73rd minute goal which allowed them to finish on the top of Group A with a perfect record of 4-0-0.
Toronto's defeat consigned them to second on the table with six points and they will now return to MLS play for the final regular season game at Columbus Crew on the weekend.
Santos were the side that ended Toronto's CCL campaign last season and again, thanks to US international Gomez, have done the double on the Reds who have endured a tough season domestically.
