Santos president Odilio Rodrigues is upbeat over their chances of re-signing AC Milan attacker Robinho.
Robinho's agent has been in talks with Santos in recent days.
"Although several Italian outlets have taken for granted the return of Robinho, I can inform you that negotiations are progressing well," Rodrigues told Santos TV.
"We are doing everything possible to sign the player - he has also lowered his initial demands.
"We have great hope that the deal will be closed soon. We hope to give the fans this gift as soon as possible."
