Santos claim they had an agreement with AC Milan over a fee for Robinho. Robinho was on his way back to his old club before Milan sold Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to PSG.

"The Robinho move was going through, but the sale of both those players complicated matters," Santos Coach Muricy Ramalho told Terra.com.br.

"If they had stayed at San Siro, then things would've gone differently for us. We made a big effort to sign Robinho and we were very close to finalising a deal.

"Now we know it is not going to happen. Milan did not want to finish off the move."
