Newcastle United defender Davide Santon says they're taking the Europa League seriously.

Toon face Metalist Kharkiv tomorrow night.

"We think the Europa League is really important for us this year, but there is still much to play for in the Premier League too. Both competitions are important for us," said Santon to the Evening Chronicle.

"We're still close to the top 10 remember. Don't forget our two important wins against Villa and Chelsea.

"It takes us to 27 points and the position is really tight.

"If we get three points we're back in 10th position."
