Santa Cruz not surprised by Pellegrini impact at Man City

Former Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz has heaped praise on manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Santa Cruz worked with Pellegrini at Malaga last season.

Santa Cruz, who still plays for Malaga, said: "He's a qualified engineer, an educated man and someone with a huge amount of patience.

"He will never rush into a decision. He will do his homework, consider all his options before deciding what to do.

"He came to me before joining City and asked about the dressing room. He takes a lot of care when it comes to making sure how healthy the dressing room is.

"He was very interested to know about the players at City, the characters and different people. He had some fears, some reservations about working in a different country he didn't know too well.

"But because of the type of person he is, he knew he could adapt and learn. He can take things on board without a problem and doesn't have issues with change.

"His greatest strength is remaining relaxed and calm. His best quality is this, dealing with so many big stars.

"It makes players feel important and wanted. It creates a good atmosphere. Players want to do well for him."
