Giuseppe Sannino has refused to criticise Palermo over his sacking.
Sannino was shown the door on Sunday.
“It is the task of the Coach to lead and manage the team, and when he doesn't, the responsibility is his,” the 55-year-old told Radio Mediagol.
“It was the best moment of my career, I arrived in an amazing city, but I could not do what had been achieved in the past.
“I wanted to do better, and I agree with the criticism.
“The players had to adapt to my style, but maybe I should have adapted my style to the players available.
“I am grateful to Zamparini for giving me the opportunity – he acted in the good of the team.
“I believe the team can do well, I wish Gian Piero Gasperini good luck, I'm sure he will find a team with the desire to do well.”
