Fran Sandaza has revealed he rejected the chance to return to Spain in order to join Rangers in the summer.
The 28-year old attacker departed St Johnstone at the end of last season and could have easily gone back to his homeland but instead opted to sign with 'Gers despite them falling into Scotland's Third Division.
"Rangers offered me a pre-contract agreement in January. I was attracted by their offer, but I wanted to see whether the door was open for me to make a return to Spain," he said.
"I got some offers from clubs back home, but once I saw what Rangers were offering me I stepped back from those clubs.
"The interest from Rangers, despite their having been demoted, was such that I did not think twice about joining them.
"It did not matter to me that they are playing in the Third Division. They are a historic club, not just in Scotland but Europe."
