San Jose Earthquakes forward Darren Huckerby has undergone surgery on a troublesome hip problem.
The former Coventry City, Leeds United, Manchester City and Norwich City man has struggled with the injury for much of the season, allowing him just 13 MLS matches.
The 33-year old, a former Norwich Player of the Year, enjoyed a good start to his career in the US after joining San Jose in July 2008 but has failed to make an impact this season due to the ongoing injury.
