San Jose Earthquakes have waived defender Aaron Pitchkolan as they begin to trim their squad to 24 players.

The 26-year old appeared in nine matches for the Quakes in 2009 after arriving in a mid-season trade from FC Dallas but found himself jockeying for a roster spot with Bobby Burling and rookie Ike Opara this pre-season.

Pitchkolan's last match for the Quakes was a 3-0 pre-season win over the University of California on Monday.
