San Jose Earthquakes v NYRB match moved to Stanford

San Jose Earthquakes have shifted their July 2 clash with New York Red Bulls from Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara to Stanford Stadium.

The Stanford University venue will play host to its first MLS match and it will be somewhat of a celebration as it falls on the 4th of July weekend.

"Stanford Stadium is one of the premier venues on the West Coast," said Earthquakes President David Kaval.

"We see this match as a great opportunity to extend our reach to the Greater Bay Area and also provide our fans with an exciting game experience, including a fireworks extravaganza."

Ray Purpur, Deputy Director of Athletics at Stanford University, added: "The Earthquakes have a long and storied tradition in the Bay Area and we are happy to host their fans here at Stanford Stadium in this exciting match."

It will give the fans of the Greater Bay Area the chance to see Red Bulls stars Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez in action and 'Quakes season ticket holders will have a two-week presale to purchase additional individual tickets before tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, April 19 at 10 a.m. PT.

Group tickets and a FIREWORKS 4 PACK are on sale now by calling the Earthquakes Front Office at 408-556-7700. The four-pack is also on sale at sjearthquakes.com and includes four tickets and two Chris Wondolowski t-shirts for $50. Individual tickets will range from $15 to $50 and can be purchased at sjearthquakes.com or by calling 800-225-2277.
