San Jose Earthquakes are looking for a replacement for Simon Dawkins after his loan return to the club did not go ahead.
The Tottenham forward spent two successful seasons on loan with the Quakes before moving to Aston Villa late last month and San Jose boss Frank Yallop has confirmed he wants a quality player to fill his void.
"We're not going to panic," he said. "It's got to be a real top-notch player."
Yallop told the Mercury News that the club had made a 'great offer' for a 'large amount of money' to Tottenham but the North London club rejected their proposal as Dawkins opted to head to Villa for the remainder of the Premier League season.
