San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski admits celebrating the winner against LA Galaxy with US troops is a memory that will stay with him forever.

In one of the great games in MLS history, Wondolowski backheeled the final goal of the seven goal thriller before high-fiving and hugging military personnel, who were invited guests standing behind the signage boards backing the goal.

"It's a memory I'll always have with me," Wondolowski told the San Jose Mercury. "With July 4 just around the corner, and what those guys do for us and sacrifice, it's amazing. I truly appreciate what they do. It was pretty special to be able to celebrate with them."
