San Jose Earthquakes have announced that they have sent JJ Koval for a training stint with Benfica.
The 22-year old midfielder will spend two weeks with the Portuguese giants in a bid to further his development in an extremely professional environment.
Koval was picked up by the Quakes with selection number nine in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft and made 22 appearances for the Californian club in his rookie season.
The Stanford graduate, who had a short stint on loan with Sacramento Republic last year, will train with Benfica until January 22 before returning home to San Jose in preparation for the 2015 MLS season.
