San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Bobby Convey says he will not retire from international football despite being out of the loop for the past few years.
The former Reading winger was a key member of the USA team that played in the World Cup in Germany in 2006 but has seen little action since.
However, he still harbours ambitions to be involved in the national team: "I'm never going to retire from the national team," Convey said. "I've always wanted to play."
His view was backed up by 'Quakes coach Frank Yallop who said: "We see the Bobby of old from England and maybe before he left to go to England. He runs well, uses the ball well, he's intelligent, he's tough. He's got pace. He's got all the things you like in wide players.
"He's now sort of believing in, not just himself, but the team. He feels that he is on the top of his game right now and I agree with him."
