San Jose Earthquakes' fan group - '1906 Ultras' - have vowed to stay silent until their sanctions are lifted by the club.
The group has been banned from displaying homemade banners at home matches at Buck Shaw Stadium as the Quakes look to clean up their act.
The Ultras sat silently during San Jose's 2-0 home win over Chivas USA on Saturday night and will do so until the ban is taken away by club management who seem to be worried about a minority of passionate supporters.
Quakes supporters caused some trouble during a recent away trip to Portland Timbers which club president Dave Kaval suggested was the reason for the ban.
"We don't want to be part of violence in any way," Kaval told the Mercury News. "It has no place in soccer. It threatens the very viability of our product and sport in North America."
