MLS club San Jose Earthquakes hopes its relationship with the English Premier League's Tottenham Hotspur will allow them to capture some talent.
Quakes boss Frank Yallop admitted that the two-year partnership has been positive for his club but wants to take it to the next level by bringing some Spurs players to San Jose.
"We're going to really use [our affiliation with Tottenham] and hopefully get out there and look around and then find those two or three players who are going to make a difference for us," Yallop told MLSsoccer.com ahead of an upcoming visit to England.
It is certain that the club will go to North London next year for a training camp ahead of the 2011 MLS season - a move which paid dividends in 2010 and also got Tottenham out to the States for an exhibition match.
"They watched us play and they were pleasantly surprised by the standard," Yallop added. "When they came over and played us, they were very happy with the way they were treated. It wasn't just, 'We're going to show a Premiership club a good time' - it was for real, and we felt very close to that club."
And it just gets better with news that Quakes general manager John Doyle is set to make a visit to Brazil to meet another of Spurs' partner clubs, Brazilian outfit Sport Club Internacional, in January.
Doyle will travel to Porto Alegre to meet with Internacional's staff and explore the possibility of bringing players to San Jose, just like MLS rivals LA Galaxy do with Sao Paulo FC.
