San Jose Earthquakes could move into new stadium by 2012

San Jose Earthquakes owner Lew Wolff says new stadium plans are well underway.

Thee Quakes hope to open a 15,000-seat soccer stadium in 2012, and no later than 2013.

"We're taking every step toward a building permit that we can," Wolff told the Mercury News. "I don't want to overdo it. These are very difficult times.

"We had hoped to have more sponsorship leading to the stadium.

"Now, we feel we need the stadium under way before getting sponsorship where we want it."
