San Jose Earthquakes' Convey to put World Cup omission behind him

San Jose Earthquakes winger Bobby Convey wants to put the disappointment of missing out on the USA's World Cup squad behind him.

The 27-year old former Reading man says he is keen to focus on the 2010 MLS seasons with the Quakes and achieve plenty of goals to make up for the omission from Bob Bradley's 23.

"I just need to focus on being here," Convey said. "I want to be an all-star and MVP of the team and try to get to the playoffs. If I start focusing on the national team, you take time away from energy."

Convey admitted his relationship with Bradley was not ideal and it probably led to the letdown of not being a part of the touring party for the tournament in South Africa.

"We don't really talk about it, because there's no point," he added. "It's just kind of negative.

"I knew before he became the coach I wasn't going to go in. I've never really spoken to him."
