San Jose Earthquakes GM John Doyle has confirmed a deal is close for Montreal Impact striker Peter Byers. "We've agreed to terms just don't have the contract signed yet,'' Doyle told the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

Byers, 23, scored three goals in seven games for the United Soccer League's Montreal Impact last season. He has 18 goals in 27 games with the Antigua and Barbuda national team.

"He's a big, strong center forward,'' Doyle said. "He's a little bit raw. But you know what he's worth a shot.''
