San Jose Earthquakes GM John Doyle admits talks have stalled over a new contract with midfielder Ronnie O'Brien. "You have to weigh how much you're spending on your midfield," Doyle told the Mercury News. "Now I need to put money into the front line to score goals. I have to weigh all the options where you're spending too much, where you're not spending enough. That's where we are with Ronnie O'Brien."
Doyle also said he expects the Earthquakes to sign two international forwards within two weeks. The team has been in discussions with three forwards whom Doyle declined to name because the parties are negotiating.
"These are three guys we're real happy with," said Doyle, who visited Jamaica in the off-season to scout potential discovery picks.
