San Jose Earthquakes defender Steven Beitashour has been called into the Iran national team for the first time.

San Jose Earthquakes defender Steven Beitashour has been called into the Iran national team for the first time.

The 26-year old American-born Beitashour will join Iran for training camp ahead of their 2015 AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Thailand on Tuesday, October 15 in Tehran.

Beitashour’s parents were both born in Iran making him eligible to represent Team Melli and he could get his opportunity after former MetroStars head coach and Real Madrid manager Carlos Queiroz extended an invite for the Asian Cup qualifier.
