San Jose Earthquakes announce Weaver signing

The San Jose Earthquakes announced Thursday they've signed forward Cam Weaver to a multi-year contract. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. He will be added to the official roster upon receipt of his ITC.

Weaver, 25, is a target forward who played for FK Haugesund of the Norwegian Adeccoligaen, the first division in Norway, the past two seasons. In 2008 he scored 11 goals in all competitions, nine in league play and two in the Norwegian Cup. In his last match in Norway on October 25, 2008 Weaver scored two goals in a 4-2 win against Sandnes Ulf.

"We have been looking for a target forward and Cam certainly fills that position with his height and strength," said General Manager of Soccer Operations John Doyle. "He had a great year for the Sounders in 2006 and has been productive in Norway. He should be a good addition to our team as we continue to strengthen our attack."
