Sampdoria captain Angelo Palombo has jumped to the defence of Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho.

Reacting to Mourinho's rant yesterday, Palombo went against popular opinion, declaring: "Mourinho is someone who says things to your face and many times, to defend the team, preferring to draw attention to himself.

"I think he is a great coach."
