Sampdoria tell Cassano to forget pay-rise

Sampdoria have warned Antonio Cassano that an improved contract is out of the question.

Sampdoria have warned Antonio Cassano that an improved contract is out of the question.

Earlier this week, Cassano said he felt entitled to a new deal after inspiring Sampdoria to qualification for the Champions League.

However, Edoardo Garrone, the son of Sampdoria's President, believes that Cassano is more likely to get a pay cut than an increase.

“In the club's accounts, his cost, his salary, is very high,” Garrone said.

“So renewing it means getting ourselves back round a table and negotiating the actual contractual terms.”
