Sampdoria have warned Antonio Cassano that an improved contract is out of the question.
Earlier this week, Cassano said he felt entitled to a new deal after inspiring Sampdoria to qualification for the Champions League.
However, Edoardo Garrone, the son of Sampdoria's President, believes that Cassano is more likely to get a pay cut than an increase.
"In the club's accounts, his cost, his salary, is very high," Garrone said.
"So renewing it means getting ourselves back round a table and negotiating the actual contractual terms."
