Sampdoria striker Maxi apologises for meltdown

Sampdoria striker Maxi Lopez is disappointed with his current suspension.

Lopez kicked the referee's door at the end of the Torino game whilst insulting the official and his assistants and has been handed a two-match ban.

"We played a very tight game, in which I had given everything and suffered a lot," read the players statement on Samp's official website.

"At the end of the game, coming back into the changing rooms, I was angry and wrong. It was not my intention to vent my frustrations with inadequate gestures - for this I apologise to the team, my team-mates and our fans."
