Antonio Cassano says he is staying with Sampdoria.
Despite a row with Samp coach Gigi del Neri, Cassano isn't about to quit the club.
"I am staying at Sampdoria," announced Cassano. "I do this for President Riccardo Garrone, for 'my' people, my teammates and above all for me.
"I remain even if I cannot deny that for a while I saw myself away from all this and what in the last three years has changed my life.
"On Saturday I was given the chance to join Fiorentina. It's a great club and a wonderful squad that asked me to be a part of their ambitious project until June and also to play in the Champions League.
"I cannot deny that I considered it, as my prospects of playing at Samp have been greatly reduced, according to the latest comments from the Coach.
"I repeat my respect for the tactician's decisions, but it is precisely because of this, in a moment of profound disappointment, that I couldn't help but look at the Viola option.
"However, very quickly the city of Genoa and 'my' people truly buried me in shows of affection and love, unthinkable even for me who have been so close to the fantastic fans from the start.
"I was honestly moved and touched. It is because of this that I have decided to maintain my word with this club that two years ago I stated was mine.
"I am here to stay. For me, for the fans and that wonderful man Garrone I realised what rapport ties me to Sampdoria. I remain and we'll all see together what the immediate future of Cassano will be."
