Sampdoria are closing on Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia.

Ranocchia has been linked with Liverpool and Norwich City this month. However, he would prefer to remain in Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport says Ranocchia has already agreed personal terms with Samp.

However, Inter won't allow the defender to leave until they find a replacement.

Ranocchia was sacked as club captain by Inter coach Roberto Mancini in preseason.
