Former Manchester United defender Michele Fornasier is pleased with his move to Sampdoria.

Fornasier signed for Samp this week.

"I am very happy to have arrived in Genoa and sincerely cannot wait to start this new adventure," the young defender told Sampdoria.it.

"I wanted to return to Italy and to try to carve out my own space in the first team of a major club.

"Playing at United was a dream. Having that chance, even in training, with the likes of Rooney, Giggs and Van Persie, seeing Ferguson on the sideline watching, it makes you realize how big the opportunity that you have is passing through your hands.

"It has not been easy to make the decision to leave, but the prospect was to do another year with the reserves or go on-loan to finish in a team of lesser caliber. So I decided to change the air, go back to my country and chose Samp."
