Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone refused to gloat over the ruling brought against Antonio Cassano last week.
The judges ruled that Cassano would be suspended through January 31 and would have his salary cut in half until the remainder of his contract at Samp which runs until June 2013.
Garrone feels vindicated for attempting to rescind the player's contract.
He said: "It's a very harsh sentence for Cassano.
"It cannot be underestimated because to reduce someone's salary by millions is not something to be taken lightly.
"Someone said that there are no winners or losers in this situation and I certainly don't want to chant victory."
