Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero admits frustration not signing Alberto Aquilani.
Sporting CP refused to allow the midfielder to leave on Monday.
Ferrero said: “Aquilani was very upset and so were we. In any case, life goes on.
“(Vincenzo) Montella asked us for certain players and we tried to oblige. Personally I did everything to give him what he asked for.
“Every Coach has his system and vision of the game. Our priorities are the motivation: we want only motivated players to come to Samp.
“Soriano? Keeping him wasn't a sacrifice. Everyone wanted him because he's very good but I kept him firmly. Will he leave in June? Time will tell."
