Sampdoria midfielder Gaston Ramirez admits he was left frustrated over his time in England.

The Uruguay international struggled at Southampton and Middlesbrough over four years.

"I just didn't know if I was playing well or not," said Ramirez. "The point is that sometimes I did not have continuity. When not playing it's hard to be able to prove how good you are.

"It's also very physical football and maybe I did not find the right team for my game but I still grew up as a football player and now I'm here to show how much I'm worth.

"It's better here or the English climate? (laughs). Here it is fine, I felt warm there 15 days a year!"
