Sampdoria have been dumped out of Europe after their 2-1 home defeat to PSV Eindhoven.

Domenico Di Carlo maintains Sampdoria "did not deserve to lose" after their exit from the Europa League.

"We did not get the result we deserved considering the performance," insisted the Coach.

"This evening we played open football against an excellent side and were unable to score more than one goal in the first half.

"Then PSV hit the back of the net with their first attempt. It is a defeat that the lads and the fans did not deserve."

It means Sampdoria are out of Europe altogether, having already crashed out of the Champions League in the preliminary round.

"Now we must try to earn in Serie A and the Coppa Italia what we failed to in Europe," continued Di Carlo.

"Our problem is that we create many chances and do not convert them. We've got to be more incisive."
