Sampdoria are in talks with Roma defender Matteo Ferrari.

The former Everton centre-half is off contract at Roma and is courting interest from several Serie A clubs, including AC Milan.

Samp chief Beppe Marotta confirmed their interest yesterday, though warned: "The problem now is his wage demands."
