Sampdoria coach Walter Mazzarri was full of pride after they survived their Coppa Italia second-leg clash at Inter Milan last night.

Inter won 1-0, but Samp go through to the Coppa final 3-1 on aggregate and Mazzarri said: "We deserved this and have done something exceptional. The only thing that we were not able to do was score, but we created so much against a phenomenal team that we can be proud.

"After the goal by Ibra we were at risk but in the second half we were strong."

Asked about another superb performance from Antonio Cassano, Mazzarri replied: "He's changed and is proving himself, we are happy to have helped a great player return to football."
