Sampdoria chief Beppe Marotta insists the club hasn't lost faith in troubled striker Antonio Cassano.

As Cassano serves his five-match suspension, Marotta said: "The player certainly must realise he needs to bridge the gap in his character and behaviour. Antonio is aware of this and promised me that he will improve.

"As a player I consider him among the ten strongest in the world."
