Sampdoria chief Beppe Marotta admits big European clubs are chasing striker Antonio Cassano.

Manchester City are regarded as serious suitors for the former Real Madrid and Roma firebrand.

"Many big clubs want Cassano," said Marotta. "We are proud to have a player who is wanted by major teams and I can assure you that is the case."

Asked if he would name the interested clubs, he said: "I will not. But Napoli have not made any approach and I do not think Napoli is a bigger club than Sampdoria."
