Former Liverpool midfielder Sammy Lee has pulled out of a 'Liverpool Legends' appearance this month.

Lee, who wonn three league titles and two European Cups with Liverpool, has joined Sam Allardyce's backroom team at Everton.

He was to appear at 'An Evening With Sammy Lee' at The Shankly hotel on the eve of the Merseyside derby on Saturday December 9.

However, the new Blues coach has side-stepped a possible PR disaster for him and his new club by pulling out of the event on Friday.

A statement from the Event With Legends Twitter account read: "Our planned event with Sammy has now been postponed - all tickets will be refunded in due course."
