Sammy Ameobi is reluctant to leave Newcastle United on-loan this season.
The winger has impressed Toon boss Alan Pardew in preseason.
Ameobi told the Evening Chronicle: "He's always believed in my ability, but it was my application that he wasn't sure about.
"Going to Middlesbrough on loan last season, and learning what it's like to be a big part of a team, really helped me.
"It's helped by my work ethic. That's helped me this pre-season. Hopefully, I'll continue doing that. I want to do it on the Premier League stage."
