Georgios Samaras was playing down his hat-trick performance in Celtic's 5-2 win over Kilmarnock on Saturday.
The 28-year old Greek forward starred for the Bhoys as they netted three goals in the first half and two in the second to remain second on the Scottish Premier League table, behind Inverness on goal difference.
Samaras suggested his treble of goals would become pointless if Celtic did not defend their SPL title this season.
"It is just goals, just three points," he said. "It is not a really important thing.
"The important thing is at the end of the season to win the trophy. If we don't win the trophy what is the point of scoring a hat-trick against Kilmarnock?"
