Sam Hammam is set to return to big time football and Cardiff City.
The Sun says billionaire owner Vincent Tan has all but resolved the financial differences he inherited when he bought Cardiff from Hammam.
And when they are settled it is believed he intends to bring Hammam back in from the cold as the club starts life in the Premier League.
Tan wants someone alongside him who knows what is needed to survive in the top flight.
It was the maverick Lebanese businessman who took Wimbledon into the First Division in 1986 and, against all odds, kept them there for 12 seasons.
Hammam inspired the Crazy Gang to their memorable 1-0 FA Cup win over Liverpool in 1988.
