Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has revealed that buying stakes in Salford City was his former teammate Gary Neville's idea.
The Northern Premier League club, based in the Greater Manchester area, is partly owned by the United's Class of 92 members Giggs, Neville and brother Phil, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt.
Giggs was speaking at the launch of A Class of 92: Out Of Their League, a documentary based on the same club, when he disclosed that it was indeed Gary Neville's idea to get involved.
He said: "As usual, the idea of owning a football club was Gary.
"We wanted something where we could look 10 or 15 years ahead and that could only be owners. We didn't know which club and then it was in front of us, I grew up in Salford, Scholesy was born in Salford."
